BOSTON — Score 4 More’s 14th annual “Save Our Streets! Silence the Violence” basketball championship was held Sunday at Marcella Park in Boston.

Marlon Benjamin co-founded “Score 4 More Inc.” with a group of friends more than 14 years ago.

Young men from Boston and Worcester showcased their hoops skills in the basketball championship at Marcella Park.

“It’s all about giving back to the community and making sure everybody that comes through here gets to eat all weekend for free. What we wanted to do was use basketball as a way to energize the community and also bring people together, because that’s what basketball does,” Benjamin said.

This is the fourth year playing in the tournament for Boston eighth-grader Robert Bullock IV.

“I’m here so I can get better at basketball,” he said. “I like everything about it, I like working hard, and training and everything.”

His father, Robert Bullock III also spoke with Boston25 News.

“I wish I had something like this when I was growing upm” the father said. “This is an amazing event run by people that are from the community. They’ve come together, it’s a group of friends that really wanted to do something for their community and keep kids safe and get that message out.”

The youths were dunking, dancing down the courts, and polishing their skills for the game and life.

Parents said win or lose, the tournament teaches lifelong lessons while building strong bonds.

“Just his confidence level, believing in himself, his teammates, the relationships he’s built from this is awesome,” Robert Bullock III said.
